Kyle Nicholas

Kyle Nicholas currently serves as Chief of Staff at the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E).

Previously, Nicholas served as Senior Advisor for Energy Finance and Director for Innovation and Markets at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this capacity, he oversaw international efforts across the Department’s program offices, coordinating with industry and private sector partners to advance and promote U.S. technologies, products, exports, and assets in global energy markets. Prior to his role in Government, Nicholas was an energy and technology financier and executive, most recently representing an investment consortium as a Board Member and Chief Financial and Operating Officer at a market-pioneering, growth-stage technology company. He has worked across the energy mix, including M&A for wind and solar portfolios and investments in NYSE-listed renewable energy companies, upstream oil and gas assets, utilities, large-scale midstream infrastructure assets, and early-stage energy technology. Nicholas began his career at global investment and advisory firm Pali Capital and later went on to serve as the Lead Energy Finance and Integrated Energy Company Manager at Bloomberg New Energy Finance, where he also served as U.S Chief of Staff. He has lived in Nairobi, Kenya, working with Amboseli Capital, one of the first sub-Saharan focused and Kenyan-owned financial firms. Kyle graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College.
