Heather Johnson currently serves as a Grants Management Specialist for the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E).

Johnson comes to ARPA-E with an extensive background as a grant administrator. Prior to joining ARPA-E, Johnson worked at South Dakota State University as a Grants Accounting Analyst then as the Assistant Director for Grants & Contracts. As a Grants Accounting Analyst, she completed grant life cycle, post-award financial office operations and managed a large fund portfolio of federal, state, non-profit, and private agencies. In her role as the Assistant Director for Grants & Contracts, she continued her Grants Accounting Analyst responsibilities, as well as performed financial account setup and maintenance, managed subaward development and monitoring, reviewed and updated Grants & Contracts policy, and provided supervisory guidance to the grants staff.

Johnson graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Dakota and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.
