John D. Jennings
John D. Jennings is the Government Partnership Advisor at the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) where he helps prepare breakthrough energy technologies for transition to government partners, particularly the Department of Defense (DOD).
Prior to ARPA-E, Jennings led a team focused on energy innovation policy in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Policy and Systems Analysis Office. He was previously the Director for Innovation in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans and Programs, where he managed a $35 million annual program to fill gaps in DOD’s energy research. Before that, he worked at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency handling legislative issues and strategy and managing a program devoted to developing dual use technology. Before joining the federal government, Jennings worked as a system engineer on satellites and automotive systems.
Jennings earned his MPA from Princeton University and his S.B. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
