Kevin Thunell currently serves as the Procurement Director at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E). In that role, he leads ARPA-E’s Contracting Team and their acquisition and assistance award activities. Prior to ARPA-E, Thunell served as a Contracting Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Headquarters Procurement Services. Thunell has also served in various acquisition roles at The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Thunell received his B.A. in political science from Christopher Newport University. Thunell also holds a Level III Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting.
