Mike Maruca currently serves as an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E). As an Attorney-Advisor, Maruca supports the OCC and ARPA-E personnel in a wide variety of legal and policy matters relevant to ARPA-E’s mission.
Prior to joining ARPA-E, Maruca was an associate in the renewable energy practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, a law firm in Washington, D.C. While there, he primarily represented project sponsors on a variety of corporate transactions for wind, solar, nuclear, and energy storage projects. Prior to graduating from law school, Maruca held a number of positions including at the OECD Development Center and a startup accelerator in Paris, a grid-edge hydropower developer in Nairobi, and a clean energy trade association and the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice in DC. Maruca served in the US Peace Corps in eastern Morocco from 2012-2014.
Maruca earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Yale and a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School.
