HOUSTON, TX – U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman today announced 13 new cutting-edge research projects that will receive a total of $30 million to find new ways of harnessing America’s abundant natural gas supplies for cars and trucks and expand the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) issued a $150 million funding opportunity open to all transformational energy technologies to support the Obama Administration’s all-of-the-above approach to solving our nation’s most pressing energy challenges.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, President Obama announced new funding to catalyze breakthrough technologies for two key alternative fuels – natural gas and biofuels – as part of his all-of-the-above energy strategy to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and provide American families new choices for vehicles that do not rely on conventional gasoline.

The focus of this workshop was identifying novel technology learning curves that have the potential to drastically cut the cost and complexity of natural gas vehicles and refueling infrastructure, in order to reduce U.S. petroleum imports via increased use of domestic natural gas.
