Project Description

Through interagency partnerships between the DOE/ARPA-E/MARINER, BOEM, and NOAA, new innovative geospatial technologies are enabling pioneering ocean industry development. One example, OceanReports, has revolutionized marine spatial planning for the open ocean. OceanReports is map-based tool that delivers a detailed analysis of any “ocean neighborhood”. The tool analyzes nearly 100 layers of ocean data including information on energy and minerals, natural resources, oceanographic and biophysical, transportation and infrastructure, as well as economics and commerce. With this new tool, anyone involved in ocean planning can easily find, view, and share comprehensive data to inform early planning, environmental analyses, and even NEPA scoping.
