Headshot of ARPA-E Fellow Dr. Benjamin Weiner

Dr. Benjamin Weiner

Fellow

Dr. Benjamin Weiner currently serves as a Fellow at the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).  His interests include agriculture, biomanufacturing, and AI for decarbonization.

Ben was previously an Independent Fellow at The Rockefeller University, where he used simple physical models of the plant immune system to yield insights into plant-pathogen coevolution and the design of resilient crops. He was also active in the New York climatetech community and served as a Technical Reviewer for the Activate Fellowship. Prior to that, he completed a Ph.D. in Physics at Princeton University with a focus on theoretical biophysics. He used mathematical and computational tools to study microbial ecosystems and intracellular phase separation. He tries to tackle problems in climate with the best lessons from physics: be quantitative, be collaborative, and look for simplicity in complexity.

Ben also holds a B.S. in Physics from Yale University, where he conducted research on neutrinos, optics, and device physics.
