Join ARPA-E in Colorado at the 2019 Energy Innovation Summit
In July, ARPA-E will head west and bring the 10th ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit to Colorado. This annual conference and technology showcase convenes some of America’s best minds in business, academia, and government to focus on new and innovative ways to conquer America’s energy challenges.
The Summit offers a unique, three-day program designed to enable transformational energy ideas. This year’s milestone event will recognize ARPA-E’s first decade of making ideas into reality, at the brand new Gaylord Rockies Resort and Conference Center, located outside Denver. There, from July 8-10, in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, Summit attendees will:
- Experience the nearly 300 ARPA-E performers and other highly vetted exhibitors who will bring their cutting-edge energy R&D to the Summit’s Technology Showcase.
- Attend over 15 panels where leading energy innovators discuss solutions to our energy challenges and practical seminars where experts offer guidance on how to accelerate energy technologies on a path toward commercialization.
- Network with breakthrough technology companies, federal government leaders, entrepreneurs, and researchers who are ready to collaborate.
- Meet influential government, research lab, and private-sector leaders and learn about partnerships and funding opportunities.
- Hear insightful keynotes from industry, academia, and government leaders, such as Dean Kamen, Founder and President of DEKA Research & Development Corporation, Barbara Humpton, CEO of Siemens, and Andrew Ott, CEO of PJM Interconnect. The Summit website highlights the leading lineup of keynote speakers.
Since we’re in Colorado this year, we want to highlight how the Centennial State’s government, industries, universities, and labs work together to pioneer the energy landscape of the future. On Wednesday, July 10, the mainstage will CSU Energy Institute Director Dr. Bryan Willson will moderate an engaging discussion between Xcel Energy- Colorado President Alice Jackson, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Director Dr. Martin Keller and BPX COO Brian Pugh. The panelists will discuss the state’s natural resources, the energy innovation community, how Colorado’s government has encouraged energy leadership, and current challenges the state may share with others.
This year’s Summit also includes a first-ever opportunity, the NREL Innovation Workshop, which occurs at the end of the Summit on Wednesday. Summit attendees have the opportunity to be transported to and from NREL’s facility in Golden, Colorador. While there, they will take part in a three-hour lab immersion, including presentations by NREL leaders, a demonstration-style science and technology showcase, lab tours (including the popular Energy Systems Integration Facility), and the chance to network with NREL scientists and experts.
In 2018, the Summit hosted nearly 1,800, from 46 states and 12 countries. In 2019, that number is expected in grow even higher, as energy professionals, innovators, and investors from around the country join the more than 200 ARPA-E project teams that will display their technology on the Tech Showcase Floor.
