ARPA-E Technology-to-Market Advisor Mary Yamada and Associate Director for Technology-to-Market Dr. James Zahler discuss ARPA-E's SCALEUP Program in a recent episode of "Energy Briefs", ARPA-E's new digital content series.
The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that funds high-potential, high-impact energy technologies that are too early for private-sector investment. ARPA-E awardees are unique because they are developing entirely new ways to generate, store, and use energy.
ARPA-E R&D projects develop potentially disruptive technologies through substantial technical advancement. ARPA-E created the SCALEUP Program to address the technology “scaling gap” and remaining technical risk of successful technologies. The goal of the program is to translate the performance achieved at the lab-and bench-scale to commercially viable versions of the technology.
The SCALEUP Launch Pad provides investors industry, manufacturers, and other potential partners the opportunity to hear recorded pitches from the selected SCALEUP Semi-Finalists. Information on the teams, companies, partnering status, as well as their technology and project proposals is provided within the profiles below.
ARPA-E hosted a 2-day virtual Workshop Series, on August 11th and 12th, to facilitate partnerships between Semi-Finalists and investors, industry, manufactures, and many others. The Workshop Series was held via WebEx and registration was required; registration was free of charge.
Day One included Industrial, Grid, and Renewables projects. Day Two highlighted Buildings, Agriculture, and Transportation companies. Attendees heard a short pitch from each of the participating Semi-Finalists.
Watch Day 1 and 2 of the workshop below.
ARPA-E has selected the SCALEUP Semi-Finalists, and each has been offered the opportunity to participate within the SCALEUP Launch Pad. Those participating in the Launch Pad have developed profiles to help facilitate their partnering efforts. These Semi-Finalist profiles - available through the hyperlinks below - provide information on their company and team, technology and proposed project, as well as contact information.
